What we collect, and why.

WE Quantity Surveyor is a small practice in Kuala Lumpur. This page says plainly what this website and the Take-Off by WEQS software collect about you, what it is used for, and how to reach us about it. It is written to meet Malaysia’s Personal Data Protection Act 2010 and, for visitors elsewhere, the same spirit.

The forms on this site

When you ask for a quote or the software trial, we collect what you type: your name, company, email, phone number, what you do and what you measure from. If you arrived from an advert, the form also records which advert and search term brought you (a Google click id and campaign tags), so we know which of our advertising works.

  • Used for: answering your enquiry, sending the download, and following up once to hear how you got on. We may email you about the software occasionally; every such email says how to stop them.
  • Stored with: Netlify, which hosts this site and holds form submissions, and our own email and WhatsApp. Nothing is sold or passed to anyone else.
  • Kept for: as long as we are in touch, and up to two years after the last contact, unless you ask us to delete it sooner.

The Take-Off by WEQS software

  • Your drawings, measurements and project files stay on your computer. The software has no account and uploads nothing.
  • Once a day it checks a small file on this website to learn whether a newer version exists. That request carries the software’s own version number and nothing else. Setting the environment variable TAKEOFF_WEQS_NO_UPDATE_CHECK switches it off.
  • A licence is tied to a machine id, a code derived from your computer that identifies no person. You send it to us yourself when you subscribe; the software never sends it anywhere.

This website

It is hosted on Netlify, which keeps ordinary server logs (IP address, browser, pages requested) for a short time to run the service. A Google Ads tag on every page counts, for our own advertising, when a trial is requested, a quote is requested, or our WhatsApp or email link is clicked; you can block it with any ad blocker and the site works the same.

Your choices

Ask to see, correct or delete what we hold about you, or to stop hearing from us, by writing to wequantitysurveyor@gmail.com or on WhatsApp at +60 12-328 0864. We answer within a few working days.
